BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF JOSEPH MANDELERT

JOSEPH MANDELERT, president of the French Lumbering Co., Chippewa Falls, was born in France Oct. 15, 1835; came to America in 1855. Lived near Utica, N. Y., for two years; then came to Wisconsin, locating in Prairie du Chien, where he remained for three years; he then went to Mississippi, where he resided for two years; then came to Chippewa Falls in 1863. He was engaged in the mills for three or four years, and in 1867 he engaged in lumber business on his own account, and has been connected with the French Lumbering Co. since its organization in November, 1873. Mr. M. was married in Chippewa Falls May 18, 1869, to Olive King, a native of Canada. They have five children— Charles, Delia, George, Mary and Millie.
