Hardie, Alice N. (17 July 1910 - 9 Jan. 2004)

Alice N. Hardie, age 93, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away Friday, January 9, 2004 at Big Bend Hospice Health Center, in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born July 17, 1910, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Helmer and Hannah (Ixc) Olsen.

Alice graduated from Drummond High School in 1927. Alice took her nurses training at Ashland General Hospital and received a nursing specialty from Michael-Reese Hospital, in Chicago. 0n August 31, 1935, she married David H. Hardie, in Chippewa Falls. For several years, Alice worked at Trinity Hospital in Ashland, as evening supervisor of nursing. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross in the United States and England. She also volunteered at the Blood Bank, Memorial Medical Center, and the Thrift Shop and also did research for the Ashland Museum. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Monday Club and the Presbyterian-Congregational Church, in Ashland. Alice enjoyed reading and helping others.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Hardie-Shane, Tallahassee, Florida; son-in-law, Samuel Michael "Mike” McCreary, Tallahassee, Fla.; a grandson, David Patrick Shane, Oakland, Calif.; a sister, Ida Trier, Des Moines, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, David on January 8, 1988.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17, at the Presbyterian-Congregational Church, in Ashland, with Dr. Darrel Robertson officiating.

Interment will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Ashland.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, at Frost Home for Funerals, in Ashland and continue from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, at the Presbyterian-Congregational Church in Ashland.

An Eastern Star service will be held 10:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Presbyterian-Congregational Church.

Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian-Congregational Church, in Ashland or to the American Lung Association.

Arrangements are by Frost Home for Funerals, in Ashland.
