The Rev. Father Michael J. Kelnhofer officiated at funeral services for John Plier, 88, in St. Louis Catholic church here (Dorchester, WI) Tuesday, March 18, at 9 a. m., with burial taking place in Dorchester Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Rau, Paul Tischendorf, Richard Schmidt, Peter Schumacher, Nick Schumacher, and Henry Gruny. Fuchsgruber Funeral Service had charge of arrangements.

Mr. Plier died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lucille Vandervort, in Milwaukee, Saturday morning about 10 o'clock. Death was attributed to cancer and his advanced age. The deceased was brought here Monday morning, and lay in state at the local funeral parlors, where a rosary service was held Monday at 8 p. m.

John Plier was born in Belgium on Feb. 11, 1864, and came to the United States when 25 years old, settling at Kimberly, this state. There he and Miss Anna Beaver were married in 1891, and made their home for 10 years. In 1901 they moved to this community, onto a farm a mile north and a mile east of the village, where they resided until their retirement in 1931. Mrs. Plier died in June of 1936, at their home here in the village, where he continued to reside for about 10 years more, then going to Milwaukee to make his home with his daughter.
