Lucy Hawks (19 Feb 1870 – 19 Apr 1934)

Dorchester, April 20 – Mrs. Ira Hawks, 64, who has been making her home near Withee, died suddenly Thursday morning. She suffered a heart attack while eating breakfast and died instantly.

Funeral services will be held at the Congregational church, Curtiss, on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. W. P. Powell, Owen, will officiate, and interment will be made at Abbotsford, where she formerly resided.

Mrs. Hawks was well known in this community, having taught at the Hilltop school, northwest of Dorchester. She is survived by her husband, Ira Hawks, and two sons, Merwin, Marengo, and Donald, at home.

Three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Green, Curtiss; Misses Elizabeth and May Skidmore, Holway, and one brother, Benjamin, and four grandchildren, also survive. Two daughters preceded her in death.
