Gall, Otto (16 OCT 1882 - 22 JUN 1915)

Otto Gall was born Oct. 16th, 1882, at Cederberg, Wis., and died June 22nd, 1915, at St. Paul, as the result of burns received in a railroad wreck some two weeks previously.

The funeral was held at the Congregational Church at Spring Valley June 24th, Rev. W.H. Barton of Chicago officiating, assisted by Rev. D.L. Holbrook, and burial was made in Spring Lake Cemetery. The Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen, of which he was a member, had charge of the burial. A very large crowd was in attendance and the flowers were many and beautiful.

When a young boy Otto came with his parents to Neillsville, where he became acquainted with Miss Elsie Bahr, whom he married March 21, 1905, and who survives him. Later he came to Spring Valley and worked here many years. He leaves his wife, his mother, seven brothers and four sisters, besides many more distant relatives to mourn his tragic death.

Mr. Gall was an honest, faithful young man, of very likable character; he was a good workman at whatever he undertook, and stood high with the officials of the Omaha. This fact indirectly caused his death, as the run on which he was killed was not his regular work, but he was detailed to go for another man. His body was brought here from St. Pal in a special train, and a large number of railroad men attended the funeral.

The young wife has the sincere sympathy of all in her great loss. He is also survived by his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Frank, Jos., Edward, William Theodore, Alvin, Mike, Mrs. Fred Bruley, Mrs. Arthur Schwamb, Mrs. John Prock and Mrs. Ed. Gault.

Those who attended the funeral from away were as follows: Mrs. Joseph Gall (his mother), Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Gall, Theodore Gall, Frank Gall, Miss Minnie Gall, Mrs. Fred Bruley, Wm. Farning and F.W. Whitcomb, all of Neillsville; Mrs. John Prock, Joe Bodwin and Edward Schwellenbach, all of Globe; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schwamb of Hendren; Ed. Gall of Park Falls; Wm. Gall of Loyal; Mike Gall of Minneapolis; Alvin Gall of Heron Lake, Minn., and Roland Bahr of Deer River, Minn. – Spring Valley Sun
