Theresa Carlson (8 Mar 1892 - 30 Dec 1950)

Funeral services were held from Salem Evangelical United Brethren church here Wednesday for Mrs. Anton Carlson, 58, who died Saturday. The Rev. G. T. Vieth, pastor, officiated at the rites at 2 p.m. following brief services at an Abbotsford funeral home. Mrs. Warren Otto sang “Rock of Ages” and “O, Love, That Wilt Not Let Me Die”, accompanied by Mrs. L. D. Sorenson, who also played the recessional.

Pallbearers were Carl Braun, John Rau, Henry Rau, Emil Untiedt, Nick Schumacher, and Paul Tischendorf. Burial was in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Mrs. Carlson had been a patient in St. Joseph’s hospital for nearly three weeks, and was convalescing from surgery, when unforeseen complications interrupted satisfactory progress and caused her death about 6 p.m. Dec. 30.

Theresa Plier was born in Kimberly March 8, 1892, moving to this community with her parents before her marriage to Anton J. Carlson at Wausau, Aug. 30, 1911. Following their marriage, the Carlsons lived at Spencer, Abbotsford, and in Illinois, before taking up residence on a farm in the Town of Mayville in 1929. For the past several years they had resided one mile north of the village until October of last year, when they moved to their new home in Abbotsford, finishing of which was completed only a short time before Mrs. Carlson became ill.

Surviving are her widower; four sons: Lloyd, Dorchester; Lawrence, Curtiss; Raymond, Park Ridge, Ill., and Gerald, at home; three daughters: Mrs. Edwyn (Dorothy) Rowland, Pardeeville; Mrs. Harold (Lucille) Dahlens, Cambridge, and Mrs. Lloyd (Lillian) Burch, St. Louis, Mo., and 13 grandchildren.

Other survivors include her father, John Plier, Milwaukee; five sisters: Mrs. Carl Bartsch, Marshfield; Mrs. Carl Husom, Minneapolis; Mrs. John Simstad, Bay City, Michigan; Mrs. Paul Vandervort, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Margaret Lillyrath, Kawkawlin, Mich.; three brothers: Frank Plier, Schiller Park, Ill., Francis Plier and George Plier, Franklin Park, Ill. Her mother, a brother, and a sister preceded her in death.
