Ryan, Richard L. “Dick” (3 September 1944 – 7 November 2008)

Richard L. “Dick” Ryan, 64, of Fairchild passed away at the Augusta Nursing Home Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, after a valiant battle with cancer.

Dick was born Sept. 3, 1944, and raised in Waseca County, MN, and has resided outside of Fairchild for the past 18 years. Dick had been a mechanic all of his life and employed at Federation Co-op in Black River Falls until the time of his illness.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of 26 years. He had five children from a previous marriage – Shane, Rick, Tina, Chad and Stacie, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Waseca County, MN. Dick also has been the beloved stepfather to Melissa Compart of Osseo and Tammy Everett and her husband Bill and grandpa to their four sons of Annandale, MN. He is also stepfather to Scott Compart of Mabel, MN. Survivors also include his stepmother, Esther; two stepbrothers, Ivan and Orlen Maas, and a stepsister, Marilyn Hardt, all of the Janesville/Mankato, MN area. Dick is further survived by his sister, Colleen Gerdts; brother, Dan Ryan of Minnesota; and many other loving relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola; father, Daniel; and granddaughter, Angela.

A Memorial Visitation will be held at Buswell Funeral Home in Black River Falls Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at 2 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Janesville, MN.

Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place following the service at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery in Janesville, MN.
