Smothers, William B. “Bill” (23 June 1952 – 7 November 2008)

William B. “Bill” Smothers, 56, of Fennimore, and formerly of Millston and Black River Falls, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, in his home in Fennimore.

Bill was born in Black River Falls, June 23, 1952, to Benjamin and Pherbia (Small) Smothers. He was raised in Millston. He worked on cranberry marshes and did wood pulping.

Surviving are a daughter, Jackie Barnett, Appleton; two brothers, Robert (Mary) Smothers, Sparta, and Wayne Smothers, Necedah; three sisters, Ruth Zahrte, Sparta, Mildred Miliene, Winona, MN, and Mary (Mark) Silver, Warrens; three grandchildren, Jesse Robert and Charlie; and a special friend and caregiver, Sally Behncke.

Graveside funeral services for William B. “Bill” Smothers were held Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery, Millston.

Torgerson’s Funeral Service of Black River Falls assisted the family with arrangements.
