Kantner, Irene B. (11 December 1922 – 14 April 2010) With Flag

 

Irene B. Kantner, 87, of Tomah, formerly of Black River Falls, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Tomah VA Medical Center.

 

She was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Elmwood Park, IL, to Peter and Helga (Alstad) Hansen.  She married Donald C. Kantner in Chicago, IL, Dec. 12, 1949.

 

Irene had worked for Bendix Aviation and served in the U. S. Army from 1944 through 1945.  She had been a member of he Millston Women’s Club.  She loved her flower gardens, sewing and crocheting.

 

Irene is survived by two sons, Peter (Debra) Kantner of Nampa, ID, and Clifton Kantner of Black River Falls; four grandchildren, Colleen Kantner, Dawn (Troy) Sommers, Samuel and Thomas; four great-grandchildren, Ryden, Alexa, Lauren and Jackson; and two brothers, Verner Hansen of Indiana and Steve Hansen of Black River Falls.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Louis Hansen, and a sister, Marie Sims.

 

Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010, from Torgerson’s Funeral Home in Black River Falls.  Kenneth Schoolcraft, VFW post chaplain, officiated.  Burial was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday April 20, 2010, at the Fair Cemetery in Plymouth, IN.  Friends called at Torgerson’s Funeral Home Sunday from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
