Olson, Ledre E. (30 January 1920 – 18 September 2008)

Ledre E. Olson, 88, of Merrillan died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls.

Ledre was born Jan. 30, 1920, in Mindoro Township, La Crosse County, to Oswald and Stella (Stetzer) Craig.

She married Glenn Casper in January of 1939 at Alma Center. He preceded her in death Sept. 28, 1944. She married Maynard Olson April 16, 1949, in Merrillan. He preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1982.

Ledre worked at Black River Memorial Hospital from 1968 to 1982. She enjoyed baking, quilting and making Afghans for her grandchildren, gardening and fishing in Montana. She became a resident of Pine View Care Center in April of 2003.

Ledre is survived by her children, Karen Burnett of Hixton, Francis Casper of Merrillan, Verland Casper of Black River Falls and Calvin (Sharon) Olson of Black River Falls; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, Glenn and Maynard, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Walton, Garfield and Wallace Craig; two sisters, Pearl Grindie and Marie Olson.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at United Methodist Church in Merrillan. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Friends called from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the Church Saturday.

The Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, assisted the family.
