Vezner, William F. (6 August 1937 – 18 January 2010)

 

William F. “Bill” Vezner, 72, of Taylor and formerly of Black River Falls died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, in his home.

 

Bill was born Aug. 6, 1937, in Superior to Gordon E. and Elizabeth “Alice” (Hunczak) Vezner.  He graduated from Concordia High School of St. Paul.  He later attended Concordia College of St. Paul for two years and seminary in Fort Wayne, IN, for one year.

 

He married Karen A. Wesala Dec. 30, 1960, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN.  After their marriage, the couple lived in Mound, MN, North Minneapolis MN, Lewiston, MN, Detroit Lakes MN, and Mahnomen, MN for 13 years.  They moved to Black River Falls in 1988.  Karen Vezner died July 4, 1999.  In 2000, Bill moved to rural Taylor.

 

Bill had managed two automobile dealerships.  For many years, he was employed as an automobile service representative.  In 1988, he became employed as the service representative at Laubach Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Geo of Black River Falls.  In 1997, he became employed at Black River Memorial Hospital.

 

He was a religious person who read the Bible each evening before retiring.  He enjoyed visiting with friends and helping others.  He also enjoyed collecting various items, attending auctions and garage sales and flea markets and listening to “The Buy Line” and bidding on WWIS “Radio Shop“

 

Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Ann Kersting of Phoenix, AZ; three sons, William F. (Leslie) Vezner Jr. of Lewisville, TX, John D. (Jeanne) Vezner of Omaha, NE, and Paul B. (Diane) Vezner of Black River Falls; 13 grandchildren: Alexis, Andrea, Bryce, Casey, Christopher, Crystal, Darryl, Jeremy, Nick, Heather, Nicole, Tina and Sarah; five great-grandchildren, Dylan, Mackenzie, Gabby, Destiny and Ryane; two sisters, Carol (Kurt) Schmidt of Slanesville, WV, and Roberta Root of Billings, MT; two brothers, Karl (Donghui Li) Vezner of Hong Kong, China, and Kurt (Judy) Vezner of Crestwood, KY; special friends, Floyd Larson Jr. and Eileen Olson both of Taylor; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

 

In addition to his wife, Karen, Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Alice Vezner, and his in-laws, John and Lil Wesala.

 

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. The Reverend Ben Iverson of Taylor Lutheran Church officiated.  Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Minneapolis in the spring of 2010.

 

Family and friends were invited for visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at the Buswell Funeral Home.
