Scafe, Dwight L (2 September 1942 – 5 September 2009)

 

Dwight L. Scafe, 67, of Janesville died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Madison, surrounded by family.

 

Dwight was born in Black River Falls Sept. 2, 1942, the son of LaVern and Verna (Collum) Scafe.  He grew up in Black River Falls and graduated from Black River Falls High School.  He married Joan Hanson May 23, 1964. Dwight was employed by General Motors in Janesville for 37 years, retiring in 2000.

 

He was a member of First Lutheran Church and U. A. W. Local #95.  Dwight enjoyed coaching Little League baseball for 11 years.  He also enjoyed hunting with his family and friends and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

 

Dwight Scafe is survived by his wife, Joan; three sons, Mike (Cyndi) Scafe of Oxford, MI, Jason (Brittany) Scafe of Muskego and Aaron Scafe of Janesville; six grandchildren, Michael, KayLee, Gage, Lily, Hunter and Bree; his sister, Pat (Rick) Unmack of New Port Richey, FL; two brothers-in-law, Randy (Connie) Hanson of Lewisburg, TN, and Cliff (Donna) Hanson of Janesville as well as a niece and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Scafe, and a nephew, Brad Unmack.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at First Lutheran Church, 612 N. Randall Avenue, Janesville.  Reverend George Bauman will officiate.

 

Visitation will be at First Lutheran Church Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
