Zalewski, Lucian T. (20 August 1914 – 12 August 2009)

 

Lucian T. Zalewski, 94, of Cataract and formerly of Black River Falls died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at the home of his niece and her husband in the Town of Little Falls, Monroe County.

 

He was born in Poland Aug. 20, 1914, to Francis and Jadwega (Rudnicki) Zalewski.

 

He served in the Polish Army during World War II.

 

Lucian immigrated to the United States after being sponsored by his brother, Joseph.  He settled in the Town of Adams in Jackson County, where he farmed with his brother.

 

Lucian was active in the NFO.  He enjoyed a lively, political debate, and he was fond of his animals and pets.

 

Surviving are his niece, Christine (Tony) Wontor, and his nephew, Ted (Roberta) Walczak, both of Cataract, and other numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.

 

Memorial funeral services for Lucian T. Zalewski will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321), Black River Falls. Reverend Donald Iliff will conduct the services.

 

Relatives and friends may call at Torgerson’s Funeral Home Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

 

The family prefers memorials be given to the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
