Wolf, Luella C. (6 Dec. 1927 - 8 Mar. 1993)

ALGONA, Iowa - Marshfield native Luella C. Wolf, 65, Algona, Iowa, died Mon. at home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thur. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona, with the Rev. Gerald Hartz officiating. Music will be provided by Sharon Poeppe, organist, and St. Cecelia Funeral Choir.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Algona. Pallbearers will be Jim Kelley, Paul Gronbach, Jim Voigt, Roger Batt, Ervin Wiltgen and Herbert Ziesman.

Visitation will be at Geilenfeld-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, after 2:30 p.m. today with a Catholic Daughters of America rosary at 3, a Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary prayer service at 7:30. A family prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Thur. at the funeral home.

She was born Dec. 6, 1927, in Marshfield, to the late Nicholas and Helen (Grupp) Eckes. She attended and graduated from schools in Marshfield. She worked at the McLelland five and dime store until her marriage. She was married to Edward B. Wolf, Sr. July 5, 1947, in Marshfield, and he died Sept. 19, 1984.

She and her husband moved to Algona in 1951, and she worked at Jean’s dress shop for several years. They purchased the Coast to Coast store in 1952 and later started Coast to Coast Toyland. They also operated a furniture store and a rental center.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Soroptimist International, Kossuth County Hospital Auxiliary, Algona Chamber of Commerce and was president of E.L.M. Corp. She was a recipient of the northern region Small Business of the Year Award.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. James (Marcia) Stebbins of Algona; one son, Edward of Algona; one brother, James Eckes of Marshfield; five sisters, Georgietta Worley of International Falls, Minn., Mrs. Robert (Marlene) Kohlbeck and Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Schiebe, both of Marshfield, Mrs. Ellsworth (Arlowine) Berch of Stratford and Mrs. Virgil (Geraldine) Wilder of Cassville; and six grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by one granddaughter, Abbigail.
