Beyer, Marvin (21 Sept. 1916 - 15 Jan. 2009)

Marvin Beyer, 92, died peacefully Thur., Jan. 15, 2009, at the Golden Living Center-Three Oaks in Marshfield of Alzheimer's-related causes.

He was born Sept. 21, 1916, in Seymour, to Hugo and Lillian (Peotter) Beyer. In 1937, he traveled to California, where he obtained a private pilot's license and in time became a wing foreman at North American Aviation's bomber assembly plant, Inglewood, Calif., prior to and during World War II.

He married Ann (Nina) Marie Riolo in Inglewood, Calif. on June 21, 1942. They returned to Seymour in 1946, where Marvin joined the Johnson Burt Lumber Company, the beginning of a lifelong career as a retail lumberman owning lumber yards in Seymour, Kaukauna and Winneconne. Following the loss of his wife Ann to cancer in 1991, Marvin found and married a sweetheart from his teenage years, Katharine E. Look (Gault), on May 11, 1992, in Marshfield.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Katharine; sons Don (Georgette) and Jon of Marshfield; two grandsons, Hawthorne of Glasgow, Scotland, and Trevelyan (Fiona) of Newcastle, England; and two great-grandchildren Erin and Isla of Newcastle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and younger siblings, Dorothy, Laverne and Raymond.

A celebration of Marvin's life will be held in Seymour, in the warmth of springtime on a date to be announced. Marvin embraced the important elements of his life with enthusiasm and energy: his Christian faith, family, travel, stained-glass artwork and the Green Bay Packers.

In lieu of flowers or other remembrances, please make a donation to your local food pantry or to Ministry Home Care-Hospice. The family wishes to thank the staff of Golden Living Center-Three Oaks and the Angelus Retirement Community in Marshfield for the kindness and loving care they bestowed on Marvin over the years.
