Bargender-Taylor, Amanda (27 Dec. 1907 - 7 Jan. 2009)

Amanda Bargender-Taylor, 101, of Marshfield died Wed., Jan. 7, 2009, at the Marshfield Care Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Sat. Jan. 10, 2009, at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fri. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and again Sat. from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Fri. at the Edgar funeral home.

Amanda and her late husband, Frank Bargender, owned and operated a dairy farm for many years and later raised poultry.

Survivors include a son, Vincent (Marilyn) Bargender and a daughter, Charlene (Adrian) Michlig, all of Marshfield, a sister, Lydia Dettmann, Bethel Care Center, 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

Amanda Bargender-Taylor, 101, Marshfield, died Wed., Jan. 7, 2009, at the Marshfield Care Center.

She was born Dec. 27, 1907, in Marathon County, daughter of the late Gustav and Willamina "Minnie" (Kummerow) Grosskreutz. On June 29, 1926, she married Frank Bargender at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1974. On June 8, 1983, she married Floyd Taylor in Bakerville. He preceded her in death June 11, 1997.

As a child, Amanda spent several winters in logging camps with her parents and later attended schools in Wausau and the town of Wien. Amanda and her late husband, Frank Bargender, owned and operated a dairy farm for many years and later raised poultry. After she married Floyd, they moved to the Marshfield area. Some of her hobbies included traveling, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She had a great love for animals, especially her pets Rex and Muggy. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include a son, Vincent (Marilyn) Bargender, and a daughter, Charlene (Adrian) Michlig, all of Marshfield; a sister, Lydia Dettmann, Bethel Care Center; 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, stepchildren and step-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; husband, Floyd; three sons, Edmund, Myron "Mike" and Mark; and three grandchildren, Ervin, Michael and Linda.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Sat. Jan. 10, 2009, at Saint John Catholic Church, Edgar. The Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, and again from 10 a.m. until the time of services Sat. at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m. today at the Edgar funeral home.
