Helmuth Mannigel Dies at his Home in Spencer

Helmuth Mannigel, 80, Spencer, died at his home the evening of March 9. Funeral services were held Fri. afternoon, March 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. William Ruhbusch officiated, and burial was made in Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield. Pallbearers were Frank Walti, Elmer Helsten, Raymond Frank, George Roehrborn, William Luepke, and A. C. Elliott. The congregation sang “Nearer my God to Thee,” and “What a Friend We have in Jesus,” accompanied by Mrs. Arnold Bruesewitz at the organ.

Mr. Mannigel was born November 20, 1890, in the town of McMillan, received his education there, and farmed in the township before his marriage. He was married to Marie Matthes on September 2, 1914, in the town of McMillan. He is survived by his wife. After their marriage the couple operated a farm in the township of McMillan until their retirement in 1959. They moved to Conrath, Wisconsin, and made their home there for seven years, before moving to Spencer five years ago.

Helmuth Mannigel was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Spencer, the Spencer Senior Citizens, and had served as treasurer of the former West Kerwin School in McMillan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. LaVern (Violet) Weber, Spencer; and Mrs. Orville (Marie) Foth, Morton Grove, Illinois; three sons, Clifford, William, and Walter, all of Marshfield; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, a brother, and four sisters.
