Hoefner, Fred (4 May 1884 - 15 Aug. 1980)

Fred Hoefner, Route 3, Marshfield, a retired town of Lincoln farmer, died at 1:15 p.m. Fri. at St. Joseph’s Hospital, were he was admitted July 26. He was 96.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Mon. at Wesley United Methodist Church, the Rev. John F. Wreford officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.

Music will be provided by Mrs. Donald Weir, organist, and William A. Allen, soloist. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons of Mr. Hoefner.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sun.and until 10 a.m. Mon. at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel and then at the church after 10:30 a.m. Mon.. A prayer service is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. Sun. at the funeral home.

Mr. Hoefner was born May 4, 1884, in Manitowoc County. He attended schools in Manitowoc and University of Wisconsin Agriculture School in Madison.

In 1922, he moved to the town of Lincoln to farm. He retired at the age of 70. He was a former treasurer for the town of Lincoln and clerk and president of its fire department. He also was a board member of Marshfield Farmers Co-op and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

On May 5, 1908 in Manitowoc, he married Minnie Prehn. She died June 18, 1953.

He is survived by two sons, Lester Hoefner, Route 3, Marshfield, and Harold Hoefner, Blue River, Ore.; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Herbert Hoefner, Manitowoc; and two sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Erna) Koepsel, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Mrs. George (Elsa) Wilharms, Manitowoc. One brother is deceased.
