Auclair, David L. (3 June 1941 - 13 Oct 2000)

David L. Auclair, 59, Madison, died Fri., Oct 13, 2000, at St Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, following a very courageous battle with cancer.

He was born June 3, 1941, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Edgar J and Helen M. (Sullivan) Auclair.

He went to Madison for college and made it his home. He worked for Mendota Mental Health Hospital as an adolescent teacher for more then 35 years.

He was a longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Madison Pottery Club. He enjoyed collecting pottery and received recognition awards for his involvement in the Madison Pottery Club and Ceramic Arts. He also enjoyed traveling, flea markets and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid Badgers and Lions fan.

He is survived by a daughter, Tina ( Russell) Merchen, Tupelo, Miss.; a grandson, Brandon; one brother, Robert (Middi) Auclair, Nekoosa; two sisters, Carol (Merl) Hanson, Wisconsin Rapids, and Mary Blanchard, Marshfield; six nephews, Jim and Ron Auclair; Tom and Mike Krutzik; Craig Hanson and Derek Blanchard; five nieces, Tina Chariton; Lisa Barton; Tracy Eberhardt; Sandra Huber and Kendra Blanchard. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his stepfather (Frances Sullivan) and a sister (Marilyn Krutzik).

Funeral services will be held St. Peter Catholic Church, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, on Mon. at 10 a.m. The Rev. Roger Nilles will officiate. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. Mon. at the St Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Plainfield.

Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, on Sun. from 4-7 p.m., with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m. and on Mon. from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
