Sheehan, John V. (1 Nov. 1917 - 29 Mar. 2009)

JUNCTION CITY -- John V. Sheehan, 91, of Junction City died Sun. March 29, 2009, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wed., April 1, 2009, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Junction City with the Rev. Augustine Bentil officiating. Roy Fuller and Lori Johnson will provide the music for the services. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Junction City.

Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion Post No. 468 of Milladore.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services Wed. at the church.

Martens/Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI) is assisting the family with the arrangements.

John was born Nov. 1, 1917, in Caledonia, Minn., to Patrick and Matilda (Stadtler) Sheehan.

John served in the U.S. Army during World War II from June 4, 1941, until his honorable discharge Nov. 8, 1945. He served in New Guinea, Luzon and was a highly decorated combat infantry soldier.

He was employed at Weyerhaeuser Company in Marshfield and raised turkeys and beef on his farm just west of Junction City. John loved nature, fox hunting, farming, working hard and mostly John loved people. Elizabeth Czech was his best friend who died July 30, 1994, after being together for 48 years.

John is survived by two brothers, Paul and Ben Sheehan both of Minnesota; and special friends, Betsy and Mike Tushkowski of Rudolph.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister and a brother, Harold Sheehan.
