Boschma, Lucille Ruth (28 Nov. 1935 - 2 Apr. 2009)

BIG FLATS -- Lucille Ruth Boschma, 73, of Big Flats and formerly of Vesper, died Thur., April 2, 2009, at home, surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Mon. at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. Joyce Hintz will officiate.

Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home, 2201 Chestnut St., Wisconsin Rapids, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sun. and Mon. from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Lucille was born Nov. 28, 1935, in Chicago to Louis and Lucy Weber. She attended schools in Chicago. Her first marriage was to Ervin Durkee in 1954, and ended in divorce in 1962. She then met Theodore Boschma, the love of her life for 39 years. They were married in Las Vegas on July 27, 1969, while living in California. They farmed in Chili and Arpin for more than eight years. In 1977, they bought and ran the Shell Rock Inn in Vesper, until they sold it in 1981. Lucille worked several years at Del Monte in Plover and operated several different craft stores with her husband, Ted.

She enjoyed playing cards, painting ceramics and the great outdoors.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Theodore, of Big Flats; three daughters and one son, Susan (Edward) Worlund of Vesper, Peggy Durkee of Big Flats, Julie (Pete) Krause of Auburndale, and Ervin (Laurie) Durkee of Marshfield; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Christine (Jim) Peters and their children Nicole and Scott Worlund and Skye Klein of Vesper, Thomas (Mary) Worlund and son Mason of Wisconsin Rapids, Karen Worlund of Vesper, Timothy Durkee, currently stationed in Iraq, Victoria Durkee of Big Flats, Mikailah Boschma of Auburndale, and Misty Steckler of Wisconsin Rapids; two stepgrandsons, Zebulon and Forest Krause of Auburndale; one sister, Minnie Coote of Menifee, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Edward Durkee; father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Ina Boschma; two sisters, Ruth Copeland and Ann Kruse; and one brother, Everett.
