---Hefty, Maria Theresia (15 January 1887 - 17 November 1958)

Funeral services were held November 19, in Wisconsin Rapids for Mrs. Maria Theresia Hefty, 91, former Granton resident, who died November 17, at the Wood County Infirmary, where she had made her home since August 24, 1957.

Mrs. Hefty, a former member of the Ladies’ Aid Society of Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church in Neillsville, had suffered from a lingering illness.  For seven and one-half years prior to going to the Wood County Infirmary, she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hohenstein of Nekoosa.

Officiating at the services was the Rev. Myron Glick, pastor of the Wisconsin Rapids Congregational Church. Burial was made in Windfall Cemetery, Granton.

Mrs. Hefty was born in Switzerland on January 15, 1867, and was married there January 15, 1887, to John Hefty.  They came to New Glarus, Wis., two years later, and moved onto a farm near Granton in 1905.  Mr. Hefty died in 1945.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hohenstein and Mrs. Barbara Cattanach, also of Nekoosa; a son, Joseph Hefty of Granton; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
