McDonald, Berlie V. (1906 - 1991)

PITTSVILLE - Berlie V. McDonald, 84, Pittsville, died at 10:05 a.m. Thur. at St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit, Marshfield, where he had been a patient since Mon..

Services will be at 11 a.m. Mon. at United Church of Christ, Pittsville, with the Rev. Dave Sobek officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pittsville.

Pallbearers will be Lee, Gene and Fred McDonald, William Messer Jr., Roger Mancil and Patrick Dubey.

Visitation will be at Buchanan Funeral Home, Pittsville, from 4-9 p.m. Sun.and then at the church after 10 a.m. Mon..

He was born Nov. 22, 1906, in Vernon County, to Sherman and Nora (McDaniel) McDonald. He was educated in Vernon County and at Rocky Run School, town of Cary. He married Reba Dickson Oct. 3, 1934, at Zion Lutheran Church Parsonage, Granton.

He moved to Pittsville in 1916. Before his marriage, he was employed by Roddis Plywood Corp., Marshfield. He farmed in the town of Cary and was employed by Marshfield Homes. He retired in 1971. He served as supervisor in the town of Cary for many years.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Leroy (Beverly) Thiemke of Marshfield and Mrs. William (Audrey) Messer of Delavan; one son, Verlen McDonald of Pittsville, one brother, Ottle of Pittsville; one sister, Mamie Knapp of Marshfield; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
