Kamps, Margaret E. (8 Apr. 1914 - 15 Sept. 2000)

Margaret E. Kemps, 86, of 1815 S. Madison Ave., died Sept. 15, 2000, at St. Joseph’s Hospital where she was admitted Sept. 14.

Memorial services will be held at the Hansen Funeral Home at a time and date to be published later.

Memorials may be designated to Eastern Star Chapter, 95, of which she was a member and served as past Matron.

Margaret Kemps was born April 8, 1914 in Ladysmith to Joseph and Ethel (nee Allen) McCorison.

She attended Ladysmith Elementary School and moved to Marshfield at age 12 with her parents.

She graduated from McKinley High School in Marshfield and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for two years.

She later graduated from an interior decorating college in Chicago, Ill.

Margaret married E. Norman Kamps Oct. 25, 1934 in Waukegan, Ill. Following her education, she was employed by Baxter and Malsin Dress Shops in Marshfield.

She later worked for D&R Furniture as an interior decorator until her retirement. She taught an interior decorating class at Mid-State Technical College for several years.

Margaret Kamps is survived by her husband; two daughters, Barbara Jo (Richard) Geisler of Blaine, Minn. And Marjorie Kamps and her husband Michael Sanchez of Pasadena, Calif.; three grandchildren, Scott Geisler of Apple Valley, Minn., Shana (Troy) Colburn of River Falls and Stephan “Joe” Geisler and his fiancé Molly Roettger of Hudson; and three great grandchildren, Michael Geisler of Apple Valley, Minn., Tara and Austin Colburn of River Falls.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents and seven brothers.
