Weigel, Rose M. (1 Sept. 1892 - 1 Nov. 1987)

A Marshfield resident, Mrs. Rose M. Weigel, 95, died at 5:30 p.m. Thur. at the Marshfield Living Center where she had resided since Oct. 25, 1984.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Mon. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. John S. La Porte officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Helen Brinkmann, organist for St. John’s Church Choir.

Burial will be in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Rozellville. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. Sun. at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel and again on Mon. until service time. St. John’s Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be at 4 p.m. Sun. combined with the Marshfield Area Missionary Society rosary service, at the chapel. St. John’s prayer vigil will follow at 7:30 p.m. also at the chapel.

The former Rose M. Andres was born Sept. 1, 1892, in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late August and Katherine Andres. She moved to the Rozellville area with her parents in 1900 and attended St. Andrew’s Parochial School.

She was married to Peter H. Weigel Sr. Nov. 25, 1919, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Rozelville. Mr. Weigel died Feb. 12, 1951.

After their marriage, the couple farmed at Route 2, Auburndale in the town of Green Valley. Mrs. Weigel resided there until 1962 when she moved to Marshfield, living on N. Maple Avenue. In April 1981, she moved to Norris Manor, residing there until entering the Living Center.

She was a member of St. John’s Church, the PCCW, Catholic Family Insurance Society and the Marshfield Area Missionary Society. She also was an honorary life member of St. Andrew’s PCCW.

Surviving are two sons, Alois Weigel of Auburndale and Peter Weigel Jr. of Stratford; three daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Mildred) Wehe of Loyal, Mrs. Lena Sterzinger of Colby and Mrs. Robert (Rosemarie) Kass of Marshfield; 47 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, two daughters, four brothers, two sisters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
