Miller, David "Canuck" E. Sr. (December 5, 1917 - March 9, 2012)

David "Canuck" E. Miller Sr., 51, Rib Lake, died on Monday, March 12 at his home, under the care of his family and hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m. at the Chelsea Conservation Club, with Pastor Freddy McMillen officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Michael, Curtis and Jessica Quednow, Katie and David Miller and Tashalia Barnes. Active pallbearers are Mike Ecker, Paul Socwell, Kevin Rogers, Kurt Komarek, Josh Miller, Shawn Graumann, Bo Lambert and Cal Maule.


Visitation will be held at the conservation club on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.


Hemer-Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home of Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.


David Miller was born on July 12, 1960 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, to the late George Leonard and Dorothy Elizabeth (Gibson) Miller. He attended St. Catharines Elementary School and graduated from Collegiete Technical School in St. Catharines. He worked for 20 years at General Motors of Canada until his retirement in 1998, then moved to Wisconsin.


On April 5, 1999 in Stillwater, Minn., he married Lorie Ann "Lorie" Hilbert, who survives. He worked at various places in the Medford and Merrill areas until ill health. He also operated Can Am Graphics out of his home.


He was a member of Silverdale Gun Club of Ontario. He enjoyed any and all types of racing, and his family and friends.


In addition to his wife, survivors include two step-children, Curtis "Curt" Quednow of Rib Lake and Jessica (Jason Ernest) Quednow of Glidden; two children, Katie Lynn Miller and David Edward Miller Jr., both of St. Catharines; two brothers, Denis (Arlene) of Brownlee, Saskatchewan, Canada and Douglas (Joan) of St. Anns, Ontario; a grandson, Michael David Quednow of Rib Lake; a sister-in-law, Darcey (Mark Listle) Johnson of Tripoli; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Tracey) Hilbert of Jacksonville, Fla.; step-sisters-in-law, Joy (Mike) Hoff of Athens, Grace (Darin) Fritsch of Westboro and Julie (John) Lemke of Medford; step-brother-in-law, Harold Fliehs Jr. of Rib Lake; aunts and uncles; special niece, Sara Lanzalone of Beansville, Ontario; and nieces and nephews.
