Bockin, Lucille L. (Hirsch) (November 4, 1920 - February 1, 2012)

Former Medford resident Lucille L. Bockin, 91, Sheboygan, died on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at Morningside Health Center in Sheboygan, where she had resided the past 2-1/2 years.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Pastor Joshua Krieger officiating, and full military rites performed by the Medford Military Honors Team. Burial was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers were Tom White, Greg Bockin, Jerry, Don and Dale Hirsch and Wayne Engel.


Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.


The former Lucille Hirsch was born on November 4, 1920 in Stetsonville to the late Fred and Elsie (Bruekmon) Hirsch. She attended Stetsonville area elementary schools and was a graduate of Medford High School. In her early years, she lived in Chicago, Ill., did housekeeping work in New Jersey, and bookkeeping work, and was a World War II veteran of the United States Women's Army Corps where she was a supply sergeant.


On July 24, 1948 in Iowa, she married Glenn D. Bockin, who preceded her in death on August 2, 1978. They resided in Medford where she worked as a bartender. In July 2006, she moved to Sheboygan to be near family.


She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and past member of the Ladies of Immanuel, and member of Stetsonville American Legion post. She enjoyed reading, gardening, church activities and traveling.


Survivors include two children, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Tom) White of Southlake, Texas and Gregory "Greg" of Sheboygan; a daughter-in-law, Mary Bockin of Sheboygan; two step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey G. in 2002; a sister, Gertrude Krosovic; and two brothers, Ed and Raymond.
