Pizzi, Robert Donald (December 10, 1935 - August 15, 2011)


Robert Donald Pizzi, 75, Gilman, died on Monday, Aug. 15 at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home, with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating.


Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

ROBERT D. PIZZI, age 75, of Gilman, passed away at his home on Monday, August 15, 2011.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Thorp Funeral Home, with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, on Saturday, from 9:00am until time of service.


Robert Donald Pizzi was born on December 10, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the son of Joseph and Genevieve (O'Connell) Pizzi.

He was raised and received his education in the Chicago area. Robert was united in marriage to Josephine Kowal on September 22, 1956 in Chicago. They later divorced.

He worked at Danley Machine, in Chicago, as a foreman. In 1975, they moved to Lublin where they purchased and operated Pizzi's Bar for a few years. After selling the bar, Robert held various jobs including, a butcher for Lewan's IGA, pouring concrete for Silver Harycki and finally worked at Drangle's in Gilman.


He had many interests, but especially loved golfing, fishing, hunting and refereed football, basketball, baseball and softball in Gilman for many years.


He was a member of the Gilman Lion's Club and the C.B.A. in Gilman.


Robert is survived by one son: Tim Pizzi of Menomonie; 7 grandchildren;
4 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law: David Betz of Curtiss.


He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Debi Betz on September 24, 2008.
