Madlon, Anthony J. (October 25, 1922 - July 13, 2011)

Anthony J. Madlon, 51, of Gilman, died on Saturday, July 9 in Ellensburg, Wash., while traveling through Alaska with his wife.

He was born on August 23, 1959 in Michigan, the son of Tony A. and Rose A. (Prasnicky) Madlon. Tony grew up in Lansing, Mich., where he graduated from Hasslet High School in 1978.

He then moved to the Gilman area and worked for Lechleitner Construction. He married Teresa K. Budzinski on July 19, 1980. Continuing in the family tradition, he became a self-employed carpenter/general contractor until April 2005 when he accepted a maintenance position at Ace Ethanol in Stanley.

Tony was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Annually the family was involved in the Taylor County Fair where his daughters showed their animals and they made many lifelong friends. His real joy was to travel the country with his family. Tony was a fun loving family man who loved to make others laugh and will be greatly missed by all.

Tony is survived by his wife, Teresa of Gilman; three daughters, Jennifer (Jon) Kuester of Stanley, Sonia (Jason) Hubly of Faribault, Minn., and Kimberly Madlon of Lake Hallie; his grandson, Gavin Hubly; his mother, Rose Sokolowski of Prentice; and his siblings, Mary (Lynn) Heinz and Sue (Bill) Polacek, both of Phillips; Delores "Dee Dee" (Rick) Eberhart of Ogema, Edward (Judy) Madlon of Glen Flora and Anna (Brian) Brockman of Bruce.

He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his father and sister, Deborah Madlon.

A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 16 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin, with Father John Long officiating. Burial followed in the Donald Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the Gilman Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
