Mayer, Ervin A. (July 7, 1936 - May 21, 2011)

Ervin A. Mayer passed away on May 21, 2011 at his home after spending a lovely day with his family.

Erv was born on July 7, 1936 in Chelsea, to the late John and Katherine Mayer.

Erv served his country in the United States Army. He worked part time for Don Gehrt and his brothers building homes in the Fox Valley, including his own home, his in-laws' home, a son's home and a family cabin. Erv worked for over 30 years at Gilbert Paper Company in Menasha where numerous co-workers could be called your friends.

Erv loved to hunt and fish. He had years of stories to tell about his adventures in the woods and on the water. Not every one got away! In retirement, he and Nona lived several months of every year at the cabin across from the Mayer family farm in Chelsea.

Erv is survived by his wife of 54 years, NonaRae (Tippelt) Mayer; and children, Tim and Kate of Neenah, Tom and his special companion, Pam Nelson, of Neenah, and Joby and her husband, Joel Sewall, of Appleton; grandchildren, Drew, Reid, Chelsea, Jenna and Jack; a great-grandchildren, Lawson, and his soon to be sibling; and two sisters, Katherine Mayer of Milwaukee and Delores Sackman of Westboro.

Erv was preceded in death by siblings, Marion Niggeman, John Mayer and Lorraine Nelson.

The Mayer family would like to thank all of the special neighbors and friends for their support during the easy and not-so-easy times, we are grateful. We would also like to thank the Theda Care Hospice program and hospital medical staff.

And to our mother, our gratitude and respect for the ultimate example of unconditional love-care giving.

Erv was a spiritual man. We believe his faith brought him comfort. Per Erv's wishes, there will be a private family service. Persons wishing to honor Erv and his passing are asked to support a hospice program in his memory.

Westgor Funeral Home of Neenah assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences at www.westgorfuneralhome.com
