Hempe, Jack A. Sr. (April 23, 1946 - April 25, 2011)

Jack A. Hempe Sr., 65, Rib Lake, died on Monday, April 25 at his home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Nancy Amacher officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date. Honorary pallbearers are David Schmidt, Jerome Hempe II, David Hempe, Kristopher Hempe, Michael Hempe and Lawrence "Bud" Schreiner.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

Jack Hempe was born on April 23, 1946 in Milwaukee to the late Claire A. and Helen L. (Landers) Hempe.

On January 26, 1973 in Milwaukee, he married Cheryl Ann Smith, who survives.

He worked as a machinist and pipe fitter for Milwaukee Road then Soo Line, and finally for CP Rail until retirement in June 2006. They lived in the Prentice and Rib Lake area for 25 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Jack Jr. (Brianne) of Rib Lake; two daughters, Carol L. Hempe of Milwaukee and Michelle (Steve) Schreiner of Rib Lake; two brothers, Jerome Sr. (Lore Lei) of Milwaukee and Clair (Anita) of Colwich, Kan.; a sister, Ellen (Dave) Schmidt of Palmyra; and five grandchildren, Kristopher Hempe, Micheal Hempe, Tonya Hempe, Lawrence "Bud" Schreiner and Sarah Schreiner, all of Rib Lake.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard.
