Noland, James "Jim" (December 19, 1943 - February 6, 2011)

James "Jim" Noland, 67, Medford, was pronounced dead on Sunday, Feb. 6 on his land in the Town of Browning.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey, with Rev. Jeffrey Lambrecht officiating. Pallbearers were Tommy and Butch Dassow, Curtis Peterson, Gary, Jesse and Pat Noland, Ed Ludwig and Paul Zakowski.

James Noland was born on December 19, 1943 in the Town of Chelsea to Albert P. and Martha (Neuhaus) Noland. He attended Medford area elementary schools, was a 1962 graduate of Medford High School, and attended various mechanic and business classes throughout his life, obtaining a master mechanic certificate.

On May 29, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church, he married Dixie Zuleger, and they were later divorced in 1993.

On February 5, 2005 in Tomahawk, he married Linda Cottrell, who survives.

He worked as a mechanic at Streckert Mfg., James Peterson & Sons and Van Larhoven Equipment, all in Medford. He also did woods work, and worked at Niemuth Implement in Stetsonville as a mechanic and later owned and operated the business until his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Whittlesey Lions Club, and was currently a supervisor on the board for the Town of Browning. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, softball and dartball.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother, Martha Noland of Medford; two daughters, Laura (Craig) Peterson and Karen (John Faber) Hanson, both of Medford; two sons, Edward (Cathy Bohl) and Ronald (Diane), both of Medford; two step-children, Amanda (Matt) Schnae of Merrill and Nicholas Tessmer of the Town of Browning; three sisters, Betty Zakowski of Wautoma, Irene Sculley of Fredericktown, Mo., and Judy (Ken Baumgartner) Quednow of Curtiss; a brother, Eugene (Nancy) of Medford; two grandchildren, Danielle and Curtis Peterson; and two step-grandchildren, Talon and Isabella Schnae.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert P. Noland; a son, David in 2000; a brother, Jerry in 1963; and two sisters, Pauline Emmerson in 1985 and Elizabeth in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Whittlesey Lions Club.
