White, Verna B. (Krueger) (November 19, 1917 - December 5, 2008)

Verna B. White, 91, Medford, died Friday, Dec. 5 at her home surrounded by her family and Hope Hospice. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 8 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating.

Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Little Black. Honorary pallbearers were Danny Winter and Reuven Fridmar. Active pallbearers were Aaron Voogd, Heath Berger, Jamie, Jay and Jeff Nuernberger, Jory White, and Scott, Todd and Corey Higgins.

The former Verna Krueger was born November 19, 1917 in Rib Lake to the late Charles F. and Emma (Gerstberger) Krueger. She attended Rib Lake Elementary School and was a graduate of Rib Lake High School.

On July 24, 1941 in Rib Lake, she married Alfred "Pete" W. White, who preceded her in death on March 16, 1997.

She was a homemaker for most of her life.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Memorial Health Center volunteers, and a charter member of Klossner-Dietzler VFW Post No. 5729. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, quilt making, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Virginia (Richard) Voogd, Jacquelin (Randy) Gregory, Pam (Bruce) Higgins and Peter and Joseph, all of Medford, Rebecca (Paul) Darby of Denver, Colo., Victoria (Dan) Newbauer of Tomahawk, Dorothy White of Milwaukee and Debra Luckmann of Colombia, S.C.; her twin sister, Vera Wallace of Hartford; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Vera White of Medford.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Bob" C. on December 24, 2004; a son-in-law, Robert Berger; five brothers, Arnold, Clarence, Carl, Everett and Ernest; and three sisters, Amanda Seitz, Armella Leidy and Irene Beck.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name be made to Holy Rosary Catholic School, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Cancer Program or Hope Hospice.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
