Zutavern, Dorothea Frieda Mina (Berg) (June 17, 1924 - January 15, 2009)

Former Westboro resident Dorothea "Dot" Frieda Mina Zutavern, 84, Owen, died Thursday, Jan. 15 at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The former Dorothea Berg was born June 17, 1924 in Rib Lake to the late Andrew and Alvina (Miller) Berg. She attended Fawn Valley Graded School.

In 1942 in Medford, she married William Baumann, and they were later divorced.

She moved to Milwaukee where she married Richard Miicke, who preceded her in death in 1962.

In 1963, she married George Zutavern Jr., who survives. She worked at Rib Lake Cheese Factory, Gem Products, Rib Lake Nursing Home and later at the Taylor County Hospital where she was employed for 20 years as a nurse's aid.

She enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in the woods, knitting, crocheting, going for a ride, playing cards and a good drink.

In addition to her husband George, survivors include three sons, three daughters-in-law, eight daughters and five sons-in-law, Ardith (Carol) Baumann Sr. of Republic, Mich., Helen Walworth of Beach, N.D., Jacqualine Miicke and Debbi (Mark) Berger, both of Westboro, Richard (Sandra) Miicke and Sue Miicke, both of Medford, Shirley (Robert) Muelleman, Kathy McGowen and Johnny Miicke, all of Round Lake Beach, Ill., Cindy (Jim) Perry of Tacoma, Wash., Hope Marie (Gene) Ulrich of Ogema, and Faith Marie (Randy) Wicks of Spencer; two brothers, Ardin (Shirley) Wiitala and Donald Wiitala, both of Rib Lake; two sisters, Juanita Nikkila of Medford and Ardene Smith of Prescott, Ariz.; 31 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and second husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David Miicke; two sons-in-law, Bruce McGowen and Bob Walworth; a grandson, Shawn Walworth; a great-grandson, Ray Muelleman Jr.; two brothers, Johnny Berg and George (Julia) Berg; two sisters, Imogene (Tony) Knorn and Florence (Pete) Sauer; a brother-in-law, Harry Swanson; and two infant sisters, Anna Mae and Jacqualine Berg.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
