Lindow, Esther E. (Knauth) (September 14, 1914 - February 3, 2009)

Esther E. Lindow, 94, Medford, died Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where she had resided the past month.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey, with Rev. Randal Jeppesen officiating. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Whittlesey. Pallbearers will be Dan, Robert and Jason Lindow, Terry Marsh, Bob Mueller and Rich Cox.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.

The former Esther Knauth was born September 14, 1914 in the Town of Chelsea to the late Edwin and Anna (Linzner) Knauth. She attended Whittlesey School and was a 1931 graduate of Medford High School. She worked at Wickers Grocery in Medford for seven years.

On March 1, 1938 she married Carl W. Lindow, who preceded her in death on February 28, 1993. They farmed in the Town of Chelsea until 1975, and remained living on the homestead.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid and was also the organist for 25 years, and the Whittlesey Homemakers. She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, quilting and playing cards.

Survivors include a son, Ronald (friend Linda Good) of Medford; four grandchildren, Lisa (Terry) Marsh of Edgar, Robert Lindow and Jason Lindow, both of Wausau and Dan (fiancé Barb Ruch) of Medford; three great-grandchildren; one step great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
