-Kolpack, Albert (4 APR 1873 - 3 APR 1950)

The Gilman community lost one of its best loved pioneers in the death of Albert Kolpack, who passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital at Eau Claire on Monday, April 3rd, 1950. He had been in poor health for a year and had been hospitalized since March 22.

Albert Kolpack was born April 4, 1873 at Rosenberg, Germany. He came to this country in 1889 at the age of 16, residing for some years with his uncle, Herman Dudonsky, in the town of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.). On June 5, 1901, Mary Pribbnow and he were united in marriage, the couple making their home in Thorp until 1908. He came to Gilman in the fall of 1907, followed by his family the following year. He has since lived continuously in Gilman; known and respected by the entire community; a devoted husband and father; a good neighbor and citizen.

He is survived by his wife Mary; five sons, Herman and Harold of Gilman, Herbert of Milwaukee, Earl of Chicago, and Edward of Fargo; two daughters, Mrs. Lyman Proffitt of Milwaukee, and Mrs. C. J. Fletcher of Jacksonville; and four grand children.

The body lies at the Thorp Funeral Home, and services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church of Gilman on Thursday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment will be at the Meadowbrook Cemetery at Gilman.
