Dassow, Mary T. (22 Sept. 1932 - 15 Feb. 2009)

MEDFORD -- Mary T. Dassow, 76, of Medford died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hemer Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer service; and again Friday at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Mary was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Medford, the daughter of Joseph and Susan (Kellner) Stauner Sr. She was married Oct. 25, 1952, at Medford to Ervin "Sam" W. Dassow. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 2001.

Mary and Sam purchased the Why-Go-By Bar and Restaurant in Goodrich in 1976 and operated it until 1979. They then moved to Marshfield, where she was a housewife. In 1982, they moved back to Medford, where they owned and operated Sam and Mary's Bar until her retirement.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandy (John) Kwaitkowski of Waterford and Joan (John) Dubey of New Berlin; two sons, John (Amy) Dassow and Larry (Ellie) Dassow of Medford; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Minnie Reynolds of Baraga, Mich., Alvin (Lillian) Stauner of Medford, Aggie (Ray) Carstensen of Medford, Cathy Dassow of Whittlesey and Theresa Koutredokas of Winthrop, Maine.
