Storch-Brost, Gladys M. (August 3, 1910 - March 18, 2010)

 

Gladys M. Storch-Brost, 99, Medford, died Thursday, March 18 at Golden LivingCenter-Continental Manor in Abbotsford, where she had resided the past five months.

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 20 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, with Rev. James Babler officiating. Burial was at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Stetsonville. Pallbearers were Bryan, Jared, Terri Ann and Garett Storch, and Sharon, Scott, Samantha, Alex and Andre Pernsteiner.


The former Gladys Meschefske was born August 3, 1910 in the Town of Little Black to the late John and Frieda (Schultz) Meschefske. She attended Stetsonville Grade School and Medford High School.


On December 31, 1929 in Stetsonville, she married Raymond T. Storch, who preceded her in death on October 30, 1975. They owned and operated Pioneer Cheese Factory in Little Black where she operated the store and was the bookkeeper. They then owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Little Black until her retirement in 1970.

 

On February 2, 1979 in Leesburg, Fla., she married Joseph Brost, who preceded her in death on June 29, 1999.


She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was the current oldest member, and Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid. She enjoyed needlework, traveling, gardening, raising flowers, cooking and baking, especially apple pies, and she played the concertina her entire life.


Survivors include three sons, Robert (Margaret) Storch of Muskegon, Mich., Gerald (Elva) Storch of Stetsonville and Kenneth (Darla) Storch of Medford; a brother, John Jr. (Jane) of Medford; a sister, Arlene Reda of Shawano; a sister-in-law; five grandchildren, Mark (Sherri) Storch of Muskegon, Bryan (Lynn) Storch of Dorchester, Sharon (Scott) Pernsteiner of Eau Claire, Jared (Heather) Storch of Medford and Terri Ann Storch of Milwaukee; and seven great-grandchildren.


In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Clyde; and three sisters, Evelyn "Toots" Fredrickson, Dorothy Sell and Mabel "Dolly" Lekies.


In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
