Winslow, Louis Oliver (October 14, 1932 - July 15, 2009) 

 

Louis Oliver Winslow, 76, Spencer, died Wednesday, July 15 at Clark County Health Care Center in Owen.  

 

Private services for the family were held. His ashes will be scattered on the Rocky Mountains in Colorado at a later date. 

 

Louis Winslow was born October 14, 1932 in Owen to John and Francis (Waste) Winslow.  

 

He attended Owen Public Schools. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded a medal for his sharpshooting PFC abilities. 

 

On October 24, 1953 in Black Hawk County, Iowa, he married Alberta Jean Weltzin, who survives.  

 

He was employed by Bud Schultz Farming in Unity, Ino Foods in Merrill as a field man and inspector, David Pagel Ginseng Farms in Wausau, and Witmer Industries in Abbotsford. 

 

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and taking scenic trips with his family. 

 

In addition to his wife, survivors include six children, Linda (Leon) Marthaler, Lee (Theresa), Lois (Dale) Blasel, Laura Fosterling, Lonnie, and LuAnn (Robin) Purdy; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurna Marie Winslow; two sisters; and four brothers.
