Seidl, Jerome R. Dr. (September 21, 1921 - September 27, 2009)
 
Dr. Jerome "Jerry" R. Seidl, age 88, of Janesville, died Sunday, Sept. 27,
2009, at home.
 
He was born in Medford on September 21, 1921, the son of Joseph and Louise
(Deckelman) Seidl.
 
He graduated from Medford High School, attended LaSalle College, and
graduated from the University of Pennsylvania - School of Dentistry in 1945.
Dr. Seidl established his dental practice in Medford, and married Mildred
Zimmerman on June 16, 1946 in Medford. He was called to service in 1952 and
served as Captain in the United States Army Dental Corp during the Korean
War. He was discharged in 1954 and moved to Janesville where he practiced
dentistry until his retirement in 1986.
 
Jerry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Janesville, Janesville
Country Club for 40 years and was one of the founding members of the
Blackhawk Curling Club. He loved to fish and was an avid golfer, gardener
and curler.

 
He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Janesville; two daughters, Peggy
(Thomas) Potratz of South Bend, Ind. and Joan (Trevor) Barnes of Vancouver,
British Columbia; one son, Richard (Diane) Seidl of Rockford, Ill.; six
grandchildren, Becky (Brett) Creech, Amy (Joseph) Koorsen, Jill (Nick)
Ciechna, Claire and Michael Barnes, and Kevin Seidl; four
great-grandchildren, Allison and Megan Creech and JT and Emily Koorsen; four
brothers, James (Martha) Seidl of Medford, Arthur (Connie) Seidl of Wausau,
Richard (Dorothy) Seidl of Milwaukee and Thomas Seidl of Medford; and two
sisters, Lucille (Scotty) Meyer and Betty Seidl, both of Medford.

 
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Ralph
Seidl; and a sister, Dorothy Rodahafer.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct.
2, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Stephen J. Umhoefer
officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A visitation will be
held on Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Schneider Apfel Schneider and
Schneider Funeral Home.

 

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School.
