Blasel, Mirella Joann (July 22, 1939 - November 8, 2009)
 
Mirella "Babe" Joann Blasel, 70, Town of Spirit, died Sunday, Nov. 8 at
Wausau Aspirus Hospital.
 
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Spirit, with Rev. James Heffner officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Spirit.
 
Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Rib Lake, and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
 
The former Mirella Komarek was born July 22, 1939 in the Town of Johnson to
the late Frank and Lucy (Veitenhans) Komarek. The family moved to the Town
of Spirit in 1942. She attended Liberty Graded School in Spirit and Rib Lake High School. She worked on the family farm.
 
On October 20, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church, she married Harry Blasel, who
survives. They moved to Milwaukee, living in Lannon, until 1972 before moving back to Spirit. She worked for Briggs & Stratton for four years, at Server Products in Menomonee Falls, and later at Gem Products in Rib Lake.  
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing, being with
her family, knitting, crocheting, going to rummage and garage sales, and watching local stock car races and Nascar.
 
In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Mark of Spirit; two sisters, Arleen Wanke of Rib Lake and Vangel "Birdie" (Earl) Hartwig of Spirit; two sisters-in-law, Betty Komarek of Shawano and LaVon Komarek of Spirit; two granddaughters, Melinda Blasel of Wausau, Tina (David) Kaczmarek of Stanley; one great-grandson, Sevrin VanSleet; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Orval (Ann), Laurel "Fat," Franklin "Junior" (Freda) and Eugene "Bud;" and one sister, Almira "Dolly" (George) Ollwell.
