Bannach, Mr. and Mrs. John (29 Oct 1901-28 Oct. 1961)

Celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this week end were Mr. and Mrs. John S. Bannach. An open house was held in their honor Saturday afternoon, Oct. 28 at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cowles. Approximately 100 relatives and friends attended. Mrs. Bannach was presented with a corsage of Cymbidium orchids and her husband wore a boutonnier of white carnations. A Mass was said in their honor at 8 a.m. Sunday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church by Rev. N. E. King.

Mr. Bannach was born June 20, 1877 in Milwaukee, the son of Mary and Joseph Bannach. He attended school in Marathon and learned the blacksmith trade in Athens. He practiced his trade in Marathon and Stratford & came to Loyal in 1916. Also a farmer, he retired in 1955.

The former Clara Nowak was born to Joseph and Thereasa Nowak on July 28, 1883 in the town of Cassel, Marathon county. She received her education in Edgar where she lived before her marriage on October 29, 1901. The couple were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marathon and are both members of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. After their marriage they lived in Marathon for two years, Stratford for nine years and in Loyal fo 45 years. Both are in good health.

Besides their six children named in the picture above, they have 27 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren.

Becker, Harvey, Illinois; Mrs. Charles Bremigan, Holmwood, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. George Sanders, Dianne and Colin, Caldonia, Terry West, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Skrentney, Franklin, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. George Bannach, John A. Bannach, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Steffin, all of Milwaukee.

Mr. and Mrs. Wally Plaman, Waterford, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Worth, Stevens Point, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Shefchik and family, Rhinelander, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ampe and daughter, Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Peter Beyerl, Colby.
