Wasserburger, Pearl Eunice (26 February 1914 - 24 January 2013)

Pearl E. Wasserburger, 98, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Pearl Eunice Wasserburger was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Westfield, the daughter of Ferdinand and Adeline “Lena” (Meyers) Wiesjahn. Pearl attended schools in Westfield and the LeClair School of Cosmetology in Milwaukee. She was employed in Greenwood and Waterloo, IA, as a beautician. She married Leo Wasserburger July 31, 1934, in Montello. He preceded her in death April 19, 1981. After her marriage, Pearl was a full time homemaker and mother. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the PCCW and St. Agnes Circle. She was also active in “Women of the Moose Lodge.” In 1963 she joined the Red Cross Volunteers and Memorial Nursing Home, where she was active for 40 years. She also worked many years on the election board for the First Ward of Neillsville.

Pearl was an excellent cook, especially her apple and raspberry pie and blueberry torte. She loved flowers and always had beautiful flowers surrounding her house. In later years, her granddaughter, Lori, came every spring to help her plant flowers.

We, the family, take comfort in knowing that she lived a long, meaningful life and was blessed with many friends and happy times.

Pearl is survived by two children, Joann (Duane) Bush of Mosinee, and James (Ana) Wasserburger of Neillsville; 11 grandchildren, Lori (kent) Van Meter of Muskego, Michael (Gayle) Bush of Milwaukee, Patrick Bush of Wausau, Jeffrey (Susan) Bush of Muskego, Traci (Brian) Petit of Wausau, Jodi Schiller of Stratford, Lisa (John) Vann of Almond, James (Kelly) Wasserburger of Sussex, Sandra Brokish of Mosinee, William (Jill) Neville of Neillsville and Joseph (Linda) Neville of Neillsville; 30 great-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Edna Polinske; and two brothers, Melford and Eldon Wiesjahn.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Rev. Varkey V. Joseph officiated. Music was provided by Ronald Resong, organist, and St. Mary’s Choir. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Online condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.  The Gesche Funeral home assisted Pearl’s family with funeral arrangements.
