Jankowsky, Gustave (10 June 1877 - 4 February 1968)

Gustave Jankowsky, 90, of Fairchild, died Sunday in Milwaukee County Hospital. Funeral services were to be held today (Thursday) at 1 o’clock from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairchild. The Rev. Merlin Sasman will officiate. Burial will be made in the Fairchild Cemetery.

Mr. Jankowsky was born June 10, 1877, in Germany. He came to the United States at the age of two years. He attended schools in the Fairchild area and farmed in that area most of his life. He had made his home with his children since the death of his wife in 1948. He married the former Clara Long in 1904 in Fairchild.

Surviving are five children: Ralph of Burlington, Mrs. William (Ethel) Magling of Milwaukee, Mrs. Lee (Goldine) Wood of Milwaukee, Mrs. Robert (Clara) Brockman of Milwaukee and Mrs. Virgil (Marcella) David of Linwood, Cal. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs Adolph (Bertha) Strehlow of Elk Mound; a brother, Ferdinand Jankowsky of Eau Claire, 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Georgas Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Funeral services were held from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairchild Thursday afternoon for Gustave Jankowsky, 90. The Rev. Merlin Sasman officiated. Burial was made in the Fairchild Cemetery. Hymns were sung by the congregation, with Mrs. Gordon Thur at the organ.

Pallbearers were: Archie Bequette, Alvin Erdman, Henry Emanuel, Alfred Klatt, Henry Gerth and Paul Lang.

Out of town people here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jankowsky of Burlington; Mr. and Mrs. William Magling, Mrs. Richard Radke, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wood, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brockman, Mrs. Jon Simons, Miss Carol Brockman, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmelter, all of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Ken Van Lesser of Norfolk, VA.; Mrs. Lawrence Rau of Marshfield; Mrs. Vernon Schumacher of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beigerson and Ferdinand Jankowsky of Eau Claire.
