Mr. and Mrs. Howard Erwin took advantage of our fine weather and autoed to Spencer Sunday, returning Monday.

Scott Davis and E.R. Wonser canvassed the neighborhood in the interest of the Liberty Loan Tuesday and found the farmers more agreeable than the roads.

John Schultz was taken worse suddenly, and had to return to the hospital at Eau Claire on Tuesday.

Many from this vicinity attended the Kuechenmeister funeral Saturday. We feel a personal loss in the death of one who so recently lived among us as pupil, teacher and friend. The sympathy of all is with the bereaved family. Many relatives from Milwaukee and Madison were at the Louis Nickel home and in attendance at the funeral.

Mr. and Mrs. T.F. Lee, Mrs. Amelia converse and Mrs. Lillie Converse were Chili visitors on Monday.

Will Scharf, while carrying grain at F. Johnson's, slipped and fell, dislocating his shoulder.

Vint Lee and better half drove over from Neillsville in their new Dodge roadster Sunday and spent the day with his father and mother.

Maude Smith visited Dora Johnson, Sunday.

They have arrested the lad who deserted, and his punishment may be a severe one, but how about those who talk and preach treason to our young men? They are like real criminals.

Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Rodke of Clintonville arrived on a honeymoon trip and visit at Otto Yordi's early this week.

Ara Lee has been ill and confined to his bed all week.

Mayme Gardner, who is a patient at an Eau Claire hospital, had a turn for the worse early this week and submitted to a second operation Tuesday, since which time she is slowly mending.

Ben Wilbur of Neillsville has been whitewashing barn basements for Fink and Ara Lee and Lew Smith this week.
