Death of Mrs. Carl Roder

Mrs. Carl Roder died at her home in the town of Grant Friday, Nov. 3, 1905, at the age of 71 years. Mrs. Roder whose maiden name was Handke, was born in Germany. Oct. 25, 1854, she was married to Carl Roder thirty-nine years ago they came to America and settled in Sheboygan County, moving to Clark County four years later, and settling in the town of Grant where they have lived ever since. On Oct. 25th of last year they celebrated their golden wedding at which were gathered their five children and ten grandchildren and other intimate friends. Though the aged mother had not been in strong health for some time and long years of life could not be expected, her death has cast a gloom over the old home and brought sorrow to all who knew her.

Her husband now 73 years of age survives, with their two sons August and Paul Roder and three daughters, Mrs. Carl Krause, Mrs. Ernest Nitschke and Mrs. Henry Sterns all residing near the old home except Mrs. Sterns who lives at Duluth, Minn. The funeral was held Sunday, Rev. Haas officiating. To the bereaved husband, children and grandchildren is offered the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
