Klanchar, Caroline E. (12 APR 1906 - 24 MAR 2002)


Caroline E. Klanchar, 95, Greenwood, Clark County, died on Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Joseph Follmar and Msgr. Matthew Malnar co-officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Ben Huc, Ed Godec, Val Krainz, Bill Petkovsek, Ed Bogdonovich and Norm Mayenschein.


Caroline Elizabeth Godec was born on April 12, 1906, in Pueblo, Colo., to Joseph and Mary (nee Vidmar) GoDec. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Willard, where she was raised and educated. After her education, she worked on the family farm until she married Frank Klanchar on April 16, 1928. They moved to Milwaukee for a few years, then moved back to Willard during the Depression. They bought the depot in Willard and operated it as a filling station until 1940. They then moved to Green-wood, where her husband worked for a lumber company. After her husband's death on June 19, 1966, she moved to Milwaukee to be near her son. She moved back to Greenwood in 1985, and resided there until the time of her death. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Druszba Club and KSKJ Lodge 174.


Survivors include one son, James Klanchar, Greenwood two sisters-in-law, Frieda Klanchar, Willard and Frances Klanchar, New Berlin and nieces and nephews.


Preceding her in death were her parents her husband two sisters, Mary Matkovich and Anna Richter and one brother, Joseph GoDec. Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
