Bower, Alice (5 AUG 1921 - 19 FEB 2002)


OWEN, Clark County - Alice Bower, 80, of Owen, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services for Alice will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the United Church of Christ in Owen. Rev. Robert Everhard will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Withee and her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen and again one hour before services Friday at the church.

The former Alice Irene Cleveland was born Aug. 5, 1921, in Fargo, N. D., the daughter of Wray and Vera (nee Matisse) Cleveland. Her friendship with Albert Bower led to their marriage on July 16, 1938, in North Dakota. They celebrated this friendship and love through 63 years of marriage.

They moved to Owen to farm the Bower family farm in Longwood. She later was employed by the former Teledyne Post Company in Owen, retiring in 1985. Alice loved life, especially her family. She enjoyed oil painting, camping and traveling and making many quilts for her family and friends.

Alice will be dearly missed by her loving family and husband, Albert Bower of Owen her children, Eileen (August) Schreiber of Owen, Allen (Carol) Bower of Rock Dam, Nancy (Paul) Niznik of Medford, Dale (Kristi) Bower of Holcombe, Galen (April) Bower of Big Bend, Duane (Mary) Bower of Watertown and Diane (Michael) Sydow of Plymouth brothers-in-law, Harry (Ellen) Bower of New Port Richey, Fla., Leroy (Cubbie) Bower of Eufala, Okla. sisters-in-law, Edythe Niemi of Owen Laura Belle "Ginger" (Fred) Reynold of New Port Richey, Fla., and Alma Bower of Richland Center and 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Bower a daughter, Sharon Bower and a grandson, John Bower and her parents.
