Bauer, Laura (1908 2002)


Laura Bauer, 93, of Marshfield, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer. Father Charles Stoetzel will officiate.

Burial will be in west Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman, Clark County. Granddaughters Carol Tomke, Pat Binder, Joellen Heiman, Dena Korth, Bonnie Griepentrog, Lisa Fitzwater, Johanne Hopperdietzel, Mary Zahn and Cindy Andres will be casket bearers.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Community Funeral Home in Spencer. A wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday. There will also be visitation from 10 a.m. to just before service time, also at the funeral home.

Laura was born May 10, 1908, in Clark County to William and Ida (nee Foelske) Litka. She married Oscar Bauer on Sept. 6, 1927, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. Besides being a farm wife, she worked at Dairy Belt in Spencer. Laura enjoyed playing cards, sewing, bowling and fishing. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.

She is survived by one daughter, Bernadine (Joseph) Weber of Marshfield two sons, Jerome (Iris) Bauer and Allen (Carol) Bauer, all of Marshfield 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Adeline Otto of Milwaukee.

She was preceded in death by her parents her husband, Oscar, on Aug. 14, 1998 one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
