William Harrison Lowry (1845 - 1912)

Levis Township, Clark Co., Wisconsin

William Harrison & Mary Ann Milton (his 2nd wife)

William Harrison Lowry owned a large farm on the west side of Black River in Levis, Clark County, and followed logging for many years. He was a man of warm heart and strongly attached to his old friends.  He was an old resident of Levis who moved to Clark County soon after the war and married Jennie Higgens in 1871.  Just one year later, she died.

In 1873 he married Mary Milton of Oronogo, Mo.  He was a good natured jovial fellow who prided himself on his fine watermelons and strawberries that he shared with friends from miles around. Many people had great times at the Lowery farm.  He sold his farm about 1907, bought the Viroqua Hotel, moved his family there and remained about eight months.  He then sold out and went to Eureka, AR where he died with paralysis.

His daughter, Lois, married Mr. J. Gillard of Orongogo.   Roy, Arch, and Bert resided in Webeily, Mo. And Robert lived in Eureka Springs.  One little son, Harry, was drowned in Black River in 1884.

Mr. Lowry died April 23, 1912, at Eureka Springs, Ark. After an illness of about a year, from progressive muscular atrophy.
